Groundbreaking AI-Driven CT Imaging Debuts at PCI

PCI introduces the areas first AI powered CT scanner.

PCI's Imaging Center proudly announces the installation of Iowa’s first Philips CT 5100 Incisive Scanner, revolutionizing medical imaging with cutting-edge AI assisted technology. This state-of-the-art system, the first of its kind in the Cedar Rapids – Iowa City Corridor, features AI-based positioning assistance, advanced acquisition software, and an intuitive workflow, setting a new standard for patient care and diagnostic accuracy.

The incorporation of AI capabilities in the CT scanner software enables up to an impressive 80 percent reduction in patient radiation dose, ensuring safer imaging procedures without compromising image quality.

"We take great care when determining what CT technology to offer our patients and referring physicians," said Thomas Richardson, MD, president of Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa and a urologic surgeon. "PCI is very excited to announce this new technology, that not only enhances image quality, but also limits radiation exposure. This innovation underscores our unwavering commitment to patient satisfaction and superior patient care. As always, we are proud to offer industry-leading technology that is safe, accurate, and cost-effective. At PCI, we continuously strive to advance our technological capabilities to provide the best possible outcomes for our patients."

Key Benefits of the AI-Assisted CT Scanner:

  • Fast and Efficient Examinations: Streamlined processes keep procedure times short, enhancing patient comfort and throughput.
  • Low-Dose Imaging: Advanced AI technology allows for significant radiation dose reduction while maintaining high-quality imaging.
  • State-of-the-Art Diagnostic Tool: CT, or Computed Tomography, offers a fast, painless way for doctors to see detailed images of internal structures and organs, aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of various conditions.

CT scans utilize X-rays, a form of radiation, to create detailed images of the body. At PCI, we prioritize patient safety by managing radiation doses effectively. Philips' low-dose CT scanning technology ensures minimal radiation exposure while providing doctors with the precise images necessary for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
