Infants (0-2 years):
- Begin dental care early: Even before teeth emerge, gently clean your baby's gums with a soft, damp cloth after feedings.
- First dental visit: Schedule your child's first dental visit by their first birthday or when the first tooth appears, whichever comes first. Early visits help establish a dental home and ensure proper guidance for oral care.
- Limit sugary liquids: Avoid giving sugary drinks like juice in bottles. Stick to breast milk, formula, or water.
- Pacifier and thumb sucking: Encourage breaking these habits by age 1 to prevent tooth misalignment and decay.
Toddlers and Preschoolers (2-5 years):
- Brushing routine: Start brushing with a rice-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste as soon as the first tooth appears. Gradually increase to a pea-sized amount by age 3.
- Supervised brushing: Until around age 7, assist your child with brushing to ensure thorough cleaning.

- Limit sugary snacks: Encourage healthier options and save sugary treats for special occasions.
- Mouthguards: If your child plays sports, ensure they wear a properly fitted mouthguard to protect their teeth from injury.
